Buying a new house is definitely a reason to party. There are plenty of ways you can celebrate your new home with family, friends and neighbors. It's a way to allow people to explore your new home, or to get acquainted with the neighborhood. There's no need for elaborate decorations, as the house would be the main attraction. If you have a pool, a big backyard, or a nice sized dining room, it'd be a good idea to feature that aspect of your new home.

Put Them to Work:

You could host this party like any other event, or you could have the guests help you with moving in. The party could be an unpacking party, where people would help you unpack all your things, it'd be a great way to socialize while also being productive. Of course, you'd have to let the guests know what they're getting into in the invitations. Don't just wait till they show up and tell them they have to work! Obviously, if your house was newly built, and there was some extra, but minimal, work left to be done, you could center the party around that. If any painting needed to be finished or touched up on, or last minute furnishing, this would be more enjoyable doing it in a party atmosphere.

Bake Your Cookies!:

You might not want to cook all out meals for this party, it'd probably be best to have finger foods and snacks. And if you guys are working, then water might be the preferred drink. Chips, cookies, sandwiches would all fit for a housewarming party, these can be store bought but if you enjoy cooking are easy to prepare. Personally, baked cookies are a little better than the store bought ones, but it's up to you.

Come As You Are:

A housewarming party is usually relaxed with tours of your new home. You could host it as an open house, where the party is ongoing for several hours with people coming and leaving as they please. But if you're focusing your housewarming party on moving-in chores that the guest want to help out with, it might be a good idea to have a specific time so they'll know when to come. Otherwise, especially if you plan on working all day, just have them show up whenever.

Be Proud of Your Home:

A housewarming party is really a time to show-off your new home. Let people know why you bought it, maybe even describe future house projects you plan on doing, especially if the house is a fixer-upper. If you enjoy flipping houses, then you could have one housewarming party to let people see the before, and after you're done, have a second house party showcasing all the work you've done. Also remember, when creating invitations, you'll want people to know where your new home is located at, so be sure to include directions. Otherwise have a fun housewarming party!
