What little boy doesn't love superheroes? I'm sure your boy will come to you at least once in his lifetime and say, "I want a 'insert superhero's name here' birthday party." Well, here are some ideas for what to do when this happens to you.

First, design your invitations.

You can send out animated e-cards that have the superheroes of your choice on it. Another idea is to make printable superhero invitations with the child's face replacing the superhero. This will make it more personal. You can even make personalized superhero stickers to put on the envelopes and on party favors.

The decor should match the hero on the card that you sent.

If you happened to choose Superman as the main hero of the party, decorate with blue, red and yellow. Balloons are a must when decorating a party of any kind. Why is that? They are just plain fun! So make sure to use them. A Superman inspired banner hanging over the cake table is a nice touch, and so is hero shaped confetti. You can find hundreds of different shapes of confetti at a party store or online. Dress up the cake table with a red 'cape' tablecloth. Continue the theme with plates and cups that have Superman print on them.

Planning the activities is fairly easy with Superman.

Stick one of the many Superman movies into the TV and the kids are hooked. Follow this up with the "kryptonite freeze tag" game. Play this the same way you would traditional freeze tag. The difference is that the one who is it, or the villain, will have a big kryptonite rock (or a green balloon symbolizing it) that he or she will use to tag the others. To unfreeze their fellow superheroes, the kids will have to run at super speed and touch the frozen hero while passing by. Here's a twist: if the person doing the unfreezing touches the villain, even by accident, they become frozen. This is a fun and easy game to play.

The best thing to do for food is to go supersized!

Get extra large pizzas and cut them into diamonds. Purchase extra large ice cream pots and some blue lemonade or red Kool-Aid. The drinks become an extension of your party decorations. By the way, it's OK to have all of this sugar because, after all, it's a party.

Play superhero dress up.

When your guests arrive at your house they can play dress up as characters from your favorite superhero movies. If you are having a Superman party dress the kids up as characters from the Justice League, but if you are having a Spider-man party pick characters from the Avengers. Rent these costumes for the kids to play during the party and they're sure to have a blast.

Last but not least are the party favors.

A few coloring pages featuring the superhero of the party, crayons, superhero stickers and an action figure will make the kids very happy. Dare I say it? They may even be super happy.
