So it is that time of year again. No, it's not Christmas, it's not even New Year or Easter. It's your child's birthday, which means that you are probably throwing him a birthday party. Now when it comes to children's birthday parties, the food is very important, so you need to plan the menu accordingly.

At the very outset, it is a good idea to call up the parents of the children who will be attending, and ask whether any kid is a vegetarian. You don't want to go serving meat to a kid who is not supposed to be eating it! Also, ask whether the children have any specific food preferences, and whether any kid has a food allergy. Knowing all this information beforehand will help you plan the menu much better.

Now the menu, or the food options for a birthday party, depends on the venue. If the party is being held outside, you would want to go for simple foods like pizza, sausages, sandwiches, etc. But if the party is being held inside, you could go for more elaborate food like pasta or spaghetti, roast chicken sandwiches, etc. Do take the venue into account. Sometimes, parents organize barbecue parties for their kids' birthdays - in such cases, barbecue food would be served.

Generally, typical menus for children's birthday parties include foods like French fries, sandwiches, pizza (an absolute must!), corn on the cob, turkey or ham sandwiches, and of course, at least a couple of desserts. Make sure to have snacks and lots of food handy as the kids will definitely get hungry after playing and rough-housing. Kids are generally easy to please when it comes to birthday food, so do plan the menu appropriately.

With all this information at your disposal, you can plan a great menu for your child's birthday party!
